Monthly Obsessions!

I have been a big slacker when it comes to writing new posts for this blog. Life as a teacher/ fiancé has been very crazy this past month. Nevertheless, I promised to do a monthly favorites and I will keep that promise!

Market Peach candle from Bath and Body Works:

My first favorite is a candle. It is the Market Peach candle from Bath and Body Works. Anyone who knows me well knows about my obsession with B&BW. I am especially obsessed with their candles. The spring and summer scent are my favorite, so when the fresh picked line returned I was ecstatic! This candle smells exactly like a fresh ripe peach. It is sweet and fragrant and wonderful. I love strong candles, and this does its job. One candle will fill my entire apartment with delicious peachy goodness.

Royal Pains:

My Netflix favorite for this month is the television series Royal Pains. This is a USA Network series and I am in love with it. I have decided that I really enjoy most things that the USA Network puts out. This is a funny show about a doctor who moves to the Hamptons after some life changing events occur. I don’t want to go into it too much, but I highly recommend watching it if you have some free time and a Netflix account.

Benefit’s Lollitint:

I received a sample size of Benefit’s Lollitint in my April Ipsy bag. This sample quickly became one of the most used make up items I own. It is a lip/cheek product and it is in a beautiful candy orchid shade. Orchid was announced to be the color of the year, so this make up product is right on trend. Lollitint is basically a stain that can be used on either your lips or cheeks. I have worn it both ways and I love it a little more on my lips. The color is beautiful on your cheeks, but I feel like I can’t blend it out fast enough before the staining power kicks in. However, on my lips this is wonderful and the staying power is awesome! I will definitely be looking into purchasing the full size product. You can purchase the full size product from Ulta!

Simple Skincare Facial Cleansing Wipes:

These were an impulse buy. I watch a lot of beauty channels on YouTube and over and over again I hear them mention this brand. I have recently been really into buying facial wipes because I really enjoy being able to just clean up my face in an easy way. However, I have not had much luck because every single wipe I have used burns either my skin or my eyes. I wanted a wipe that I could wipe across my eyes as well just in case I was feeling extra lazy that day. Well, these babies are my answer! They are for sensitive skin and they do not burn my eyes at all! They are just a tiny bit pricey, but to me, they are worth every penny! I bought mine at Wal Mart!

The Ruffled Cup:

This past month I was in Amarillo quite a bit. I had been to The Ruffled Cup one time before, but I am pretty sure my fiancé and I went every time we were in Amarillo this past month. The Ruffled Cup is a bakery that specializes in cupcakes. We love them so much that we decided to get our wedding cupcakes from them! My favorite flavors include: The Classic- which is their take on a Hostess cupcake and The Marilyn- which is almond cake with raspberry filling! If you are in the Amarillo area you should definitely go in and use up your calories on a delicious cupcake. I assure you it will be worth every extra sit up!
The Ruffled Cup
April was fantastic, but I am even more excited for May! Can't wait to try new things to talk about, and school end on May 30th! Hurray!
Have a great day, my friends!

Netflix Recommendation

If you are a subscriber to Netflix you know how addicting it can be. For me, there is nothing better than spending a few hours watching some Netflix. I always have no idea what to watch though, so to if you suffer from the same issue I am here to help! I am going to be sending some Netflix recommendations your way. If you are not a subsriber you really should check it out! Just click here---> Netflix

My first recommendation is Psych.  I was late getting started on Psych, but about 2 years ago I started watching it on Netflix. I quickly learned that it was full of great qualities. Psych has everything that a television show needs. For 8 seasons each episode was full of heart and humor all topped off with some great writing. If you have never watched Psych I highly recommend it, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Do yourself a favor and get through the first few episodes because if you are like me you will hate the lead character at first. The show did just end its final season and it is not on Netflix at this moment, but all the other seasons are and you should have time to catch up. I like to watch Psych when I don’t want a show that is full of drama but still has some depth to it. Like I stated it is one of my favorite shows and I am proud to be a Psych-o.  J

In case you are completely clueless about this show let me give a brief synopsis. The show revolves around the world of Shawn Spencer. Shawn is a fake psychic who cons the Santa Barbara police department into hiring him to consult on cases. Shawn is not psychic but has a high sense of observation. Together with Gus, his best friend, they solve case after case for the police department all the while building relationships and strong friendships.

This show is smart, funny, and at moments heartwarming. You will grow to love the characters and you will love the character and plot development along the way.

Let me know if you decide to check it out or if you’re already a fan!

Monthly Obsessions!

Welcome to my first blog on Shyla’s Shouts! Since April just started I want to begin my blog with a hopefully recurring segment called Monthly Obsessions. At the beginning of each month I will write about what I was obsessed with for the past month and why. The items will be from various sections of my life including: music, movies, TV, fashion, make up, beauty, etc.

Let me know if you enjoy this type of blog!

1.       YouTube

So, this has been an obsession for a while now. I am obsessed with watching different channels. My favorite channels to watch do include a lot of beauty channels, but I do have some other non-beauty channels. My current favorite channels are:
Check 'em out!

2.       Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

miracle complexion sponge

This has been LIFE CHANGING to my foundation routine. It’s a 3-in-1 make up sponge that has a flat side, round side, and a point. You dampen the sponge and then apply your liquid foundation and then just blend in like normally. Something about this sponge makes the application process so easy and my foundation has never looked more blended and natural. You can also blend your concealer and even apply powder with this sponge! You can buy them at Ulta and they are only about $6.

3.       Drop Dead Diva

Drop Dead Diva season 5 was recently added to Netflix. I marathoned the entire season last weekend. If you have never watched the show I will quickly fill you in on the subject! It’s a show about a model that dies and goes to heaven but pushes the return button and then ends up in another person’s body. This person happens to be Jane who is a big time lawyer. The show is all about the model learning to live her life as Jane. I know that may sound really stupid, but it really is so good. If you want a feel good show that never has too much drama, but is still entertaining I recommend this one. Season 5 was pretty good in my opinion and I am looking forward to season 6. All 5 seasons are on Netflix! I do, however, think this is a show more for the ladies. :)

4.       The Body Shop Ionic Clay Mask

This is a mask that is made for oily/combination skin and it is used to detoxify and deep clean your face. I bought several of the trial size samples from Ulta and I fell in love with this mask. My face always feels so clean and refreshed after using it. I recommend using it after a day of heavy make-up or if your face is looking a little dull. You will look like you are molding though because this your traditional green mask, haha!  I am planning on eventually purchasing the full size product. As mentioned, this too can be bought at Ulta.

Okay, there you have it! These items are the first of my Monthly Obsessions! I hope you enjoyed this post, and maybe you learned about a product you haven’t heard of before. I am going to try to keep a limit of 4-5 items per month because I don’t want to overload you guys! Leave me some comments below telling me what you thought about the blog and anything you would like me to write about, or try out for reviews! Thanks for reading!!
